I’m back blogging again
Its been a while since I last blogged and a few things have changed, some have progressed and some things might start to happen. Here are the headlines more will follow later.
The Boiler house gallery is still going strong and have had another great PAW (Purbeck art weeks)
Jane and I have closed The Loft Shop at the gallery, Janes work can still be found at the Boilerhouse gallery and other venues around Swanage. My knitted and crocheted work can be found at Purl & Lace in Swanage.
I have moved house to the other end of Swanage. (most stressful move I’ve ever had). I now have a smaller study so am trying to use up the wool stash which I didn’t realise was so big until I came to pack it all up to move.
Running is a bit hit and miss, mostly miss at the moment.
We came through the terrible winter virtually unscathed apart from needing a new aerial, so lucky.
Julie and I ran some learn to crochet workshops leading up to Christmas, and I ran a sewing shop in the new year.
I’ve designed a couple of baby patterns.
Made lots of knitted and crocheted items for myself and for Purl & lace.
Summer season started today as the schools have broken up and the weather is extremely hot.
The dog is either paddling or lying in the cool around the house.
I’m gradually moving the free patterns to this site
As usual this year, although it started really early, the dog started his allergies. We don’t know what he is allergic to but at a certain time each year his paws start to itch and that means he starts to lick.
If you are a dog owner you will know that when a dog starts licking a patch they don’t stop until they lick it raw.
We tried to control it by washing his feet after every walk but we hit a hot spell and that was it. One trip to the vet later and minus a lot of money we had a working solution that didn’t involve steroid tablets which the dog does not tolerate very well (joys of having a dalmatian, very sensitive stomach and sensitive to medicines). He was put on anti-histime, 2 morning and night and a steroid spray which seems to do the job. So fingers crossed now the spray has run out but the anti-histimine is still going that he will get through without any more licked patches.
Yep its been raining yet again, but with the added gale force winds which make dog walking such a lovely experience.
The weather has been very much april showers with winds. We get patches of sunshine followed by complete downpours of rain – Squally I think is the term for this.
Just when I’d put away my wellies and rain coat I had to get them out again THIS IS JUNE where is the good weather.
This weather is good for somethings, we pass this fungus (I think it a fungus) on one part of our walk through a dense covered path, in the last week it has grown from nothing to this below. Sorry about the quality but I only had my Blackberry with me and it was fairly dark on that part of the path.
You can just see how choppy the sea was due to the wind.
Any way the dog doesn’t care about any of this as long as he doesn’t get too wet.
Today was a really lovely day, the tourists came flocking in and no doubt it will be busy here this weekend. Although the breeze is cold it is really sunny with a little hazy around the water.
Pictures are from Knoll Beach and Little Sea. Also of Old Harry Rocks.
Living at the coast we don’t get snow or big frosts or so I thought until last week.
Walking the dog on one of our beaches where the river water feeds into sea water what looked like foam was actually ice. Never ever seen that before.
The main beach (sea water only) was fine. Jaffa (the dog) loved it – tried eating it and decided to play in it.
