New tea cosy

My partner hates tea cosies and he hates with a vengeance my current tea cosy so it was time for a new one.

We  also we want a ‘show and tell’ pattern that’s used crochet & decreasing for our next crochet workshop.  It took a couple of evenings to make and a  knit & natter session with Jane and Julie  to finish it off.

The wool for cosy came from someone who had a clear out and was  a DK that is not made any more .  The flowers were made from Noro which were some of the left overs from my crochet scarf

Union Jack Bunting Pattern

I’ve finally finished the union jack pattern and have made it into bunting.

Link: http://www.knittersneeds.co.uk/Patterns/Free-Patterns

The third knit of the pattern came out a lot better.  The Union jack works better in fair isle style knitting.  I had knitted the union jack with a pennant shaped bottom but that looked just weird so I folded it up behind the flag and tacked it into place so I ended up with an oblong middle pennant as you see in the picture.  The Union Jack is a charted design.

The weather was not been bright enough to get a decent photo of the bunting so I’ve very amateurishly photoshopped the bunting on to a nice sunny day at the beach.  I will take another picture for real when the weather gets better.

I wanted to get this pattern out as people are starting to gear up for not only our olympics but the Queens Jubilee in June this year.

We are also taking part in Knit in Public week.  We will be knitting in public on the  9th/10th June by knitting in public on Swanage pier.  We will be inviting the local & visiting knitters along to knit an additional pennant for the bunting.

Happy Knitting.

Learn to crochet workshop – 21/01/2012

We had another Learn to Crochet day on Saturday.

It was a long tiring day but at the end of the day another 7 ladies left us having learnt how to crochet.

One of our ladies brought in homemade cheese scone (Thank You) and the cake for the day was Beetroot cake- which was great. (Thank you Jane’s mum)

Learn to Crochet Workshop

Saturday was The Yarn Academy’s first learn to crochet work shop of the year.

We tried a new venue – Harmans Cross Village Hall  which is between Corfe Castle and Swanage, what a great place for this type of thing.  Brand new village hall with adequate parking – yippee.

We once again our ladies learnt to crochet whilst being fortified by Parsnip Cake – recipe is on  the yarnacademy website.

We had a great group including our first left-hander.  Well done ladies you achieved such a lot.

Keep on Crocheting.
